I'm thinking of helping the christmas shopping season along by getting one for myself as well.

Man, that's ages away! Assuming you meant December, huh? When did you order? Mine's due 8th or 9th

  • Wendelboe

Yeah, December - obviously.. It was ordered the same day as yours.. Not sure why it takes them longer to ship mine.. You had it specially configured too, didn't you?

Yes. Perhaps because I have international keyboard, and you have Danish? They may take longer to produce.

    And I ordered as a business, but I don't think that'll matter…

A bit sad that the current machine is called Supercollider already

    @novemberborn "child of supercollider" ?

    12 months ago by tijs

  • Wendelboe

@Mark: Yeah, that might be the reason..

@tijs No. My rules: each big hardware purchase (or collection thereof) is named after song titles from one specific, unique band. 1st PowerBook, including Airport Express: The Weakerthans.

    • Machine: Our Retired Explorer
    • Hard drive: Manifest
    • Encrypted disk image: This Is A Fire Door Never Leave Open
    • Airport: Anchorless
    • Wi-Fi: Virtute

    Mac Mini: The Wallflowers:

    • Machine: Drunken Marionette
    • Hard drive: (forgot)

    MacBook: Fountains of Wayne

    • Machine: Supercollider
    • Hard drive: Lost in Space
    • Encrypted disk image: Little Red Light

    Time Machine: Architecture in Helsinki

    • Machine: Neverevereverdid
    • Wi-Fi: Scissor Paper Rock
    • And, due to OS reinstall, and being bored with 'Little Red Light', new encrypted disk image: Where You've Been Hiding

iPod is given song title of current machine's artist:

    • Nano: Greatest Hits (Weakerthans)
    • Touch: Bought for a Song (original and replacement, fitting, because I didn't buy it)

    So, new machine: Hawksley Workman!

I prefer real names. My Mac mini is called Melinda

And the PowerBook could not be called anything but K.Job

Actually this made me think of a dogma. I don't really want to work for a company that doesn't name their servers after real objects
